SOPHIE PICKERING
Sophie Pickering’s work explores the contradiction of beauty and trauma in daily life, revealing the balance between permanence and fragility in human and natural cycles. Through visual motifs like landscapes, family photos, and domestic spaces, she reflects on the process of growing up, confronting loss, and the urge to find a deeper communal truth behind pain. Using handmade paper pulp paintings that exist somewhere within two and three dimensions, she captures ideas that are both fragile and substantial. Intimate in scale, these works juxtapose the minute with the monumental.
