David Stock: "Unintended"
October 22 - December 6, 2015
440 Gallery is pleased to announce "Unintended," an exhibition of photographs by David Stock. In this ongoing series, the city's chaotic visual layers resolve into moments of unexpected narrative and unplanned beauty.
“One of the things photography does best is to uncover overlooked aspects of our everyday environment,” Stock says. “The city is full of dramas, allegories, and visual puns hidden in plain sight. Finding them and making them into photographs is a deeply satisfying process.”
Stock brings his images to life with meticulous printmaking. Formerly a long-time darkroom artisan, he now prints from carefully processed digital files onto fine art papers, using permanent pigment inks. Foto/Text magazine describes Stock as a “digital master printer.”
Stock’s photography has been widely exhibited and published worldwide. “Unintended,” which features color work from New York and L.A., is his first solo show at the 440 Gallery.
