Young Artists Workshop: Travel into a Painting

What If You Could Travel into a Painting?

Inspired by artist Ellen Chuse’s art, Dark Matter, in the gallery

The work of painter Ellen Chuse has large, dark shapes surrounded by brightly painted colors. Ellen asks us to consider whether these spaces might be deep holes, or portals into another dimension, or heavy spots that are sitting on the surface. What do you see? If you could travel into these paintings what would you find? Discover your special place when you create artwork with art educators Susan Greenstein and Janet Pedersen. We’ll work with black & white paper, white pencils and oil pastels to explore magical spaces that might be outer space or the deep sea or a unique location of your own invention.

Great for kids ages 5-12
